Today we are going
to introduce a good journal website: VQR (Virginia Quarterly Review).
The visual art of the homepage
have an impact on the audience. The main colors of the webpage are black, red
and white. This design is very compact. And there has a visual art on the top
of the each fiction. We think each one is very every artful design.
The
current editor, W. Ralph Eubanks is
an American author, journalist, professor, public speaker, and business
executive. He was the director of publishing of the library of Congress in
Washington, D.C. And he has served as an advisor and adjunct professor on staff
at the University of Virginia and George Mason University.
We think
this journal deserved to be recommended because it has a long history, it has no
limited itself to any special field, it is readable and responsible,
and it is also entertaining. Besides,
the standard in its selection of writers is “excellence”, we admire this point
very much. They don’t only publish fiction, but articles, poetry, photography,
criticism, and multimedia. And the audience is eclectic people.
VQR has regular section, the first part is
editor’s desk, then is reporting, essays, memoir, interviews, fiction, poetry,
criticism, and multimedia. They use the same format over and over again, and
the features of format are clear and concise so that we can recognize every
section quickly.
The fiction we chose in VQR is called Teacups.
The fiction we chose in VQR is called Teacups.
Teacups,
which is a story has four different main characters, three women and a gay. All
of them have marital problem. And the experience of each one reflects the
social problem; it causes audience to think more about the marriage and
feminist thought.
